Are you impressed with how early I’m posting this? Okay, not early in the day..but check it out: There are meals planned for today. The day after grocery shopping. In fact, I actually had the meal plan finished before we started shopping. No, the world isn’t ending, I just don’t like guessing on what to buy and then trying to match meals to that. Not fun.
Anyway, this meal plan is supposed to focus on iron. I can’t quite remember when we do the dreaded finger-stick to test iron levels, but I know it’s coming up soon. If not at the prenatal I’ve got scheduled for 22 weeks, it will likely be at the next one. So far, I’m two for two on low iron levels. Considering that my blood work at 12 weeks showed me at 13.5 (you wanna be above 12) and my blood volume has since expanded considerably, I’m probably on the low side.
I’ll go into more detail on iron later this week, but some things I’ll be sure to get plenty of are greens and chlorophyll supplements, nettle tea, grape juice (really!), beans, molasses (sneakin’ it in, sneakin’ it in) and oats.
